Since 2021, pregnant women have been temporarily offered a first-trimester anomaly scan as part of scientific research. Data from the first year of this research show that the results were often inaccurate. According to the Health Council, the benefits therefore did not outweigh the harms, which is a necessary condition for the first-trimester anomaly scan to be offered on a permanent basis.
