The Health Council advises that pregnant women should not be offered programmatic screening for HPA-1a antibodies for the time being. Although it has been established that this screening can prevent the burden of disease and mortality from FNAIT-related brain haemorrhages in unborn and newborn children, there are currently still too many uncertainties to assess whether the benefit-risk ratio is favourable.
