Vaccination against human papilloma virus (HPV) is very effective in preventing HPV infections and cervical cancer or precancerous stages of cervical cancer. The Health Council of the Netherlands recommends using the 9-valent vaccine from now on, to improve the effectiveness of the vaccination even further.
