Minor adjustments to the National Immunisation Programme

The Health Council recommends that all of the vaccines in the National Immunisation Programme (RVP) be retained, but that adjustments be made to the ages at which some of them are given. This will ensure optimal protection. Accordingly, the Council does not consider it desirable to let people choose to skip certain vaccinations or change the ages at which their children receive vaccinations, because that would diminish protection. However, it would be good to raise the level of awareness of vaccinations that are not included in the RVP and make them more accessible. The Council has written to the State Secretary of Health, Welfare and Sport on this matter.
