Dr Selma Tromp has been vice chair of the Health Council since 1 January 2026.

Selma Tromp studied medicine, obtained her PhD in 1999 and then trained as a neurologist. After several years as a staff member at Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC) and many years as a neurologist at St. Antonius Hospital, she has been working as a neurologist/clinical neurophysiologist and deputy head of the Department of Neurology at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) since 2021. She has also held various administrative positions, such as (vice) chairships at the Dutch Association for Neurology and the Federation of Medical Specialists. In addition to her position as vice chair of the Health Council, she will remain affiliated with LUMC.
