Retaintion periods of implants

Data on medical implants should be retained for a period of 115 years, calculated from the date of birth of the wearer. In this way, wearers will always be traceable in case of a problem with an implant. This can occur even after the implant has been removed. The retention period should apply to the data in the national implant registry and for the part of the patient’s medical record concerning the implant. Currently the retention period for medical records is at least fifteen years.
