Dietary reference values for vitamins and minerals for adults

The Health Council has evaluated the dietary reference values, using the reference values published by the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA). For most vitamins and minerals, EFSA´s dietary reference values can be applied in the Netherlands. For several nutrients, the Council recommends to use other reference values, based on a specific nutritional context in the Netherlands or on objections against the scientific basis used by EFSA. This advisory report was published on September 18th, 2018, and is available in Dutch and in English.

In later advisory reports, the Council will evaluate the dietary reference values for infants, children, pregnant women, and lactating women, tolerable upper intake levels and the dietary reference values for proteins, carbohydrates and fats.
