The Council

The Board of the Health Council of the Netherlands consists of a President and Vice President. The Council has about 100 members, coming from all parts of the country and from various disciplines. Together they cover the six areas of activity of the Council: optimum healthcare, prevention, healthy nutrition, environmental health, healthy working conditions, and innovation and the knowledge infrastructure.

Moreover, there is the Presidium Committee. It is a think tank for strategic issues en the general running of the Health Council.

This Committee consists of the President and Vice President of the Council, both Chairpersons of the Standing Committee, the Chairpersons of the permanent committees, and the Executive Director.

Each advisory report is reviewed by the Standing Committee before being published.

The members of the Council never meet in plenary meetings. They are invited to join committees specifically appointed to address the questions that have been submitted. Also external experts sit on these committees. In addition, there are permanent committees which are responsible for providing advice on frequently returning topics.

Finally, there is jongGR (Young Health Council), a network of young scientists.
